No Refill, Indeed!!!
When we were out in Texas, I finally tried Dublin Dr. Pepper with real sugar cane. It was really yummy. I wouldn’t give up Mexican Pepsi for it (especially since the DDP is a bit smaller) but it is a very close second. Well, Snapple Bottling can’t possibly allow a small staple of a Texas community, to present such an obvious threat to it’s brand, so they are suing Dublin Dr. Pepper and as we speak it is no longer for sale:
The decision to sue the local bottler came from the fact that the Dublin Bottler was distributing and selling outside it’s six county territory, because they were selling bottles through their toll-free number and website (GASP – You wouldn’t want this small, local, over a-hundred-year-old-still-in-the-family-business bottler to get too crazy with their website sales now would you!?).
“I am so disgusted that this Dublin Dr. Pepper is not available anymore,” Brumett said Thursday. ”There is no reason for a giant industry to overrun a small industry. I’m very disappointed.”
According to WFAA TV in the Dallas Fort Worth area people are angry and boycotting Dr. Pepper. I concur. I most definitely decided to boycott Dr. Pepper Ten after they made this really stupid and slightly misogynistic commercial. Now I’m afraid I have to boycott the real thing as well, although the real thing doesn’t exist anymore.
Here is Dr. Pepper’s corporate contact information, as well as a link to their contact page on their corporate website.
So much for “small business” America. —Uncle Eb/John
