RIP Butch Perling (1933-2012)
There are fans, and then there are fans. Toni Perling can only be described as a Super fan. She comes to a ton of our shows and is always eager to lend a hand when we need it. She’s not only a fan, but a friend. So it is with great sadness that we offer our deepest condolences to Toni for the loss of her dad, Butch Perling, recently. Best wishes, from all of us. —Uncle Eb/John
Beloved husband, father and grandfather David Sylvan “Butch” Perling, M.D. passed away at home on April 24, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. A lifelong Georgia resident, he was born on October 24, 1933 to Louis and Rebecca Weiss Perling of Sandersville, and graduated from Emory University in Atlanta and Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He practiced internal medicine in Atlanta for more than 40 years, and was a highly-respected clinician and diagnostician. He is survived by his deeply cherished and devoted wife of 48 years, Peggy; daughter Toni of Toluca Lake, CA; son Lewis (Rhonda), and adored grandchildren Isabelle and Joshua Perling, all of Atlanta. He will also be deeply missed by his lifelong best friend Franklin O. Rogers of Atlanta; all of his nieces and nephews; his bridge club of 30 years; and his many friends, colleagues, patients and caregivers. He was also known for his prize-winning roses; his love of computers (and forwarding spam); and his ever-present pipe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.acs.org).
